Which Breast Pump Is Best For Me?
Written By Laura Silvas, RN IBCLC
In 2010, The Affordable Care Act passed, requiring both individual and group insurance plans to include breastfeeding benefits, including the purchase of breast pumps (Note: some groups have a loophole, or can be “grandfathered out”). If you are unsure of your insurance coverage, always reach out to your insurance to discuss your options. There are several companies that also assist mothers to obtain pumps through insurance coverage, such as Breast Pump Depots, Aeroflow, etc. These groups help take the confusing insurance part out of the breast pump purchase process and help to navigate your options. Different insurances cover different pumps, and sometimes it can be a little overwhelming.
So, which pump is best? Should you upgrade? What will you need? We have created this list to help you decide which breast pump will work best for you! And remember, our Lactation Consultants here at Leva also offer pumping sessions!
