Julia Cheek
Founder and CEO of EverlyWell
The pandemic has been a tragedy for many companies, but it’s presented an interesting opportunity for 5-year old startup EverlyWell. Take this figure into consideration… Prior to February 2020, the firm raised $50M in venture capital. After February 2020, they have raised $275M. Interest in this startup has exploded, which makes sense given the current climate. EverlyWell develops and sells do-it-yourself kits for a vast range of at-home regulatory-compliant diagnostic tests including food sensitivity, fertility, hormones, STDs, thyroid, metabolism, and they recently added COVID tests to the mix. EverlyWell received the first FDA emergency use authorization of its kind for their COVID-19 Test Home Collection Kit in May 2020.
Julia has her MBA from Harvard and bachelors’ degrees in economics and psychology from Vanderbilt. Even still, starting EverlyWell was no walk in the park for her. She was rejected by investors dozens of times for a very long time. Thanks to a lucky break on Shark Tank, Lori Greiner became her mentor and helped Julia grow and shape EverlyWell.
Another thing that Julia has done differently with EverlyWell than her competition is creating distribution agreements through companies like Target and CVS which has allowed them to grow their volume and customer base much more quickly. EverlyWell has a lot to be proud of and even more to look forward to, as their recent influx of cash will surely boost their opportunities. They also just made Fast Company’s list of most innovative companies in North America.
